This month, we sat down with Connor Johnson, Classic Division Manager and a proud veteran of nearly seven years at Earth MotorCars! Connor’s passion for cars began at just two years old, heavily influenced by his father’s background in drag racing. His very first hands-on experience was helping his father swap an LS engine into their Chevy S10 farm truck, which sparked a lifelong interest in engine swaps, transmissions, and tuning. At 18 he bought his first project car, a 2002 C5 Corvette, and became officially hooked on the LS platform. Connor's professional automotive career began in 2018 as a technician at Crest Cadillac before he joined Earth MotorCars in early 2020. Over his tenure, he has rapidly progressed from a quick service technician on the main dealership side to a classic car technician, and ultimately moved into the office as a manager. Today, his standout expertise lies in swapping modern GM LS powertrains and Ford Coyotes into various vehicles, alongside handling intricate tuning for classic cars. When asked what makes the dealership stand out, Connor points directly to his team's boundless mechanical capabilities. His favorite part of the job is the unparalleled opportunity to work on and admire virtually any vehicle he could possibly dream of. While he currently daily drives a 2008 GMC Sierra featuring a forged LS3 stroked out to a 419CI / 6.9L engine with a built 4L80 transmission, Connor admits his dream car is a 1970 2-door Chevy Chevelle. However, he notes that being surrounded by the incredible, rotating inventory at Earth MotorCars means his dream car changes day by day depending on what rolls into the shop.
